"She shipped over very quietly and she schooled very kind," trainer John Shirreffs reported Thursday, March 11, 2010 from Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, CA as he prepares his undefeated champion, Zenyatta, for her first start since her brief retirement in the Grade I $250,000 Santa Margarita Handicap Saturday (March 13). Unbeaten in 14 starts and regarded by many as possibly the best horse in the world today, Zenyatta has been idle since winning the Gr. I, $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita on Nov. 7, her first start versus males. Looking beyond this Saturday's race, the racing world is hoping that Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta will be able to meet as planned in what would be an epic showdown in the Gr. I, $5 million Apple Blossom Handicap on April 9 at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark. ©Benoit Photo
