JOCKEY PEREZ MOVES INTO LEAD WITH FRIDAY TRIPLE

Fernando Perez enjoyed a riding triple on Friday at Los Alamitos.

A Friday triple pushed Fernando Perez into sole possession of the lead in the jockey standings almost halfway through the inaugural Fall meet at Los Alamitos.

Perez, who had seven victories during the Summer Thoroughbred Festival in July, tying him for third with Edwin Maldonado behind apprentice Drayden Van Dyke and runner-up Joe Talamo, won the second with first-time starter Gambler’s Roll, then won back-to-back – Royaly Dun in the fourth and Glorious Rebecca in the fifth - for trainer Caesar Dominguez. With five of the 11 days completed at the meet – which concludes Sunday, Sept. 21 – Perez has six victories, two more than William Antongeorgi III. Van Dyke, Maldonado, Martin Pedroza and Aaron Gryder each have three wins.
